Change the face of housing in Nicaragua

Why I am a Champion for this Cause

My name is Allie Wills and I am a member of Sustainable Neighborhoods Nicaragua (SNN). I am studying architecture in the College of Art, Architecture, and Planning and will graduate in 2016 with a Bachelor of Architecture.

SNN is embarking on a project that aims to help solve the housing crisis that is currently happening in Nicaragua. Nicaragua is the poorest country in Central America and a victim of severe underemployment and poverty where 1 out of 3 families lack electricity and piped water, and 2 out of three families lack proper sewage. Our project aims to help solve this problem in a sustainable and economically efficient way through the design of a 30-unit neighborhood and sustainable house design governed by an idea of comprehensive social, economic, and ecological sustainability.

In January 2013 I am traveling with 20 other SNN members to Nicaragua to construct a sustainable house that will serve as a model for other ecological housing developments in Nicaragua in the future. Your donation of any size is invaluable in helping us reach our goal and will go toward the actual construction of the model home in January.

Thank you so much!
